Do you have a cat who gobbles up his own meal and then steals everyone else’s food? Do you have a cat who needs to eat a diet that’s different from what everyone else in your household eats? Does the dog eat your cat’s food? The new SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder may solve these problems for you.

How does the SureFeed feeder work?

From the makers of the SureFlap Microchip Door, this feeder uses RFID technology to read a cat’s veterinarian-inserted microchip and determine whether or not to let the cat inside. The feeder also works with the SureFlap RIFD collar tag. When the feeder is not in use, the food compartment is covered with a clear lid. As the cat approaches the feeder, it reads the cat’s chip and the lid retracts.

The feeder is compatible with all brands of microchips worldwide. It uses 4 size C batteries (not included) which will last for about six months. The feeder comes with one grey split bowl and one grey mat. If you’d like to mix it up a bit, bowls and mats are also available in very pretty colors (blue, pink and green). The bowls are shallow and wide enough to prevent whisker stress.

Food stays fresher longer

The sealed food keeps canned food fresh longer, which allows cats to eat multiple small meals throughout the day, the way cats in the wild would. The feeder is not refrigerated, so I don’t recommend using it for raw food, but canned food can be safely left out for several hours.

Case study: SureFeed Microchip Feeder helps Booey eat his meals in peace

Once it was just Peter and Vinnie, a 13-year-old domestic short hair, but after adopting Booey from a family who could no longer care for her, Peter found himself with two cats who lead quite different lifestyles. 14-year-old Booey is on a special diet because he’s hyperthyroid and in renal failure. To make matters even more complicated, the family grew again with the addition of Buddy, a lively German shepherd cross who, much to Booey’s dismay, continually ate her food. My take on this feeder

I love that this feeder is designed in a way that accomplishes what it’s meant to without looking like anything but a feeder. I believe that cats will accept it much quicker than some of the more complicated designs that are on the market. My favorite thing about this feeder is that it keeps food fresh longer, which makes it perfect for cats who don’t like to eat their entire meal in one sitting.
