Mews and Nips: Siberian City Wants Cat For Mayor

siberian-cat-mayor

Residents in the Siberian city of Barnul are so fed up with their politicians that they put a cat up against other candidates running for the office of mayor. A recent poll showed that Barsik, an 18-year-old Scottish Fold, received nearly 91% of more than 5,400 votes cast by Tuesday. One of the poll’s administrators has even launched a crowd-funding initiative to raise a billboard in the city center showing the feline candidate with the slogan “Only mice don’t vote for Barsik!” Read the full story on The Guardian.

If you missed any of the stories featured on the Conscious Cat this week, here’s a recap: on Sunday, we offered some suggestions on how to infuse your life with more passion, on Monday, we featured part two of our interview with Dr. Tony Buffington, on Tuesday, we introduced you to cat artist and musician Cathi Marro, on Wednesday, I told you about my visit to New York City’s first cat cafĂ©, on Thursday, we shared some last minute holiday shopping ideas for cat lovers, and on Friday, I announced my upcoming new book, Purrs of Wisdom: Enlighenment, Feline Style.

The kitty in today’s video takes cats’ fascination with toilet paper to a new level (literally!) I wonder whether she’s got her own stash somewhere?

Have a great weekend!
