When Brad VanCleave, a Navy reservist from Murrieta, was working as a government contractor at the Baghdad International Airport in July 2015, he cared for a kitten he discovered in a shipping container. He couldn’t get the cat out of his mind after returning to the US. Thanks to the SPCA International and Operation Baghdad Pups, VanCleave was reunited with Mr. Meowgli at LAX airport after a lengthy journey via Frankfurt, Germany and New York City. To read more about this lucky cat and to watch a video of the joyful reunion, visit CBS News.

If you missed any of the stories featured on the Conscious Cat this week, here’s a recap: on Sunday, we introduced a new feature, Sunday Purrs of Wisdom, on Monday, we told you about the recently released guidelines on how to diagnose and treat feline hyperthyroidism, on Tuesday, I announced my first West Coast appearance in June, on Wednesday, Allegra and Ruby shared their top 5 favorite toys, and on Friday, we reviewed Rita Mae Brown’s latest Mrs. Murphy mystery, Tall Tail, and also interviewed Ms. Brown. And don’t forget: we’re offering a special 20% discount on the Pretty in Pink Wallet and Handbag, and we’re giving away a bag of Cats Incredible™ Litter.

Since this weekend is the unofficial start of summer, what better way to celebrate than with a video of Lil BUB on the beach!

Have a magical weekend!
