Mews and Nips: Pet-Friendly College Dorm is Home to 100 Cats

cat-college

I didn’t have cats until after I graduated college, but this time of year, I often think about how hard it must be for students to leave their cats behind when they go back to school. Students at SUNY Canton in northern New York don’t have to make that choice: the college has a pet-friendly residence hall where 100 cats live with their students. Each student is allowed one pet. The college doubled its pet-friendly rooms this year. For more about this program, please visit NYUp.com.

If you missed any of the stories featured on the Conscious Cat this week, here’s a recap: on Sunday, we celebrated Allegra’s 7th birthday, and we also talked about how to stop your smartphone from controlling your life, on Monday, we told you everything you need to know about chemotherapy for cats, on Tuesday, we featured Stella McCartney’s new feline-themed fall fashions, on Wednesday, Clea Simon talked about writing with cats and the cats in her books, and on Friday, we reviewed Domino’s Journey. And don’t forget to enter our giveaway for ZiwiPeak cat food!

Since it’s the last official weekend of summer, I thought this video was appropriate. This kitty looks like he’s having the best time!

Have a great weekend!
