Review: Cat Fountain by Wet Whiskers Fountains

Wet-Whiskers-Fountains

Fountains are a great way to encourage cats to drink more water. Water is critical to keeping your cat healthy. Even though cats get moisture from a raw or canned diet, they should still have plenty of fresh water available at all times. Cats as a species don’t have a high thirst drive, and this can lead to chronic low-level dehydration if a cat is fed mostly dry food, which in turn, can lead to urinary tract and kidney problems.

And what could be better than something that is not just good for your cats, but also adds beauty to your home? The fountains from Wet Whiskers Fountains are not just functional, they’re small works of art.

Handcrafted from non-toxic, food safe materials

Handcrafted in California by Mike Miller, these fountains are one of a kind pieces made from the finest quality stoneware grade clay. Mike uses food safe glazes that are non toxic and will not fade in color. He does not use plastic filters or any form of recycled plastics, or heavy metal tubing or pipes. Every fountain includes an activated carbon satchel as an additive to remove odors, harmful bacteria, heavy metal tastes and other contaminates that occur naturally in tap water.

Mike made his first fountain for his cat Arya to help her with a health problem. After seeing positive results, he began to make these fountains for family and friends as well. Wet Whiskers Fountain is a family business. Wife Denise handles marketing, shipping, and customer communications, and contributes to the design of the fountains. Arya is the Chief Fountain Approval Officer and purrsonally inspects every fountain before it is shipped to a customer.

Our review

Mike and Denise sent me a gorgeous fountain in a beautiful soft pink color. The fountain is super easy to assemble. I think it took me longer to unpack the lovingly and carefully packed fountain than it took me to actually set it up. It is super quiet – you can’t even hear the pump running, all you hear is a very gentle trickle of water. One design touch that I think is absolutely lovely is a small ceramic heart that is placed over the section of cord that runs from the pump underneath the center piece to the outside of the fountain. The little heart completely covers the cord and it looks so pretty!

Prior to reviewing this fountain, I did not have a fountain for the girls, so this was something new for them. Ruby was the first one to check it out:

I think she was a little started when she realized there was water in it!

Allegra approved as soon as she realized what it was, and took a quick drink of water:

I love everything about this fountain. It’s gorgeous. It’s quiet. It’s very easy to clean. The materials are selected with care and at the risk of sounding a little woo woo, I honestly felt the love and positive energy that went into this fountain. I love this new addition to my living space, and I love knowing that it’s good for Allegra and Ruby’s health.
