Even though most commercials are irritating at best, every once in a while, you come across a gem that you find yourself watching over and over again. A commercial for Netto, a German supermarket chain, featuring cats, will leave you with a huge smile on your face.
The producers built a miniature “cat-size” Netto store that looks just like a regular store. Building the set took a little over a week. Producers made sure that everything on the set was cat-friendly. The cats either had their own room, or shared a room with cats they were already familiar with.
“I look at is as shooting in a different language,” said director Brian Lee Hughes. “We’re not in the same species, but I feel like we’re brothers and sisters.”
I don’t know what’s more fun to watch: the actual commercial, or the “making of” video. Some of the “making of” is in German, but you’ll get the gist of it even if you don’t speak the language.
