I love coloring – it’s so relaxing, and it takes me back to early childhood memories, sitting in the kitchen coloring while my Mom was getting dinner ready. Studies show that the structured, rhythmic motion of coloring eases you into a meditative state, which allows you to push negative thoughts and worries out of your mind, and which induces a profound sense of relaxation. Coloring is also a great way to explore your creativity. It’s no surprise that coloring books have become so popular – and what’s even better is that there are a lot of cat coloring books available!

Cooking with Cats is a super fun addition to the coloring book market. This adorable collection by artist Jess Erskine features 25 original illustrations of cats cooking, playing, sleeping and chilling in the kitchen. The designs offer enough detail to keep even the most experienced colorists happy, but not so much that it becomes frustrating for coloring newbies.

Allegra supervised while I colored my first picture.

She got bored halfway through, so I don’t know whether she approved of my final product.
