If there’s a better way to start your day than with a fresh cup of coffee and a cat or two purring away in your lap, I don’t know what that would be. So what if you end up with a little cat hair in your coffee! The Animal Rescue Site compiled some adorable images of “kitty coffee” – enjoy! And no, coffee is not good for cats. A few licks probably won’t hurt, and most cats won’t like the taste of coffee anyway, but if your cat ingests large amounts of coffee, especially coffee grounds, a trip to the veterinarian or your nearest emergency clinic is in order, because large doses of caffeine can cause serious heart problems.
If you missed any of the stories featured on the Conscious Cat this week, here’s a recap: on Monday, we told you about IMHA (immune-mediated hemolytic anemia,) a serious condition where the cat’s immune system turns against itself, on Tuesday, we featured Litter Genie’s new interactive website, on Wednesday, we debunked six common myths about cats, on Thursday, we featured adorable felted wool catnip hearts, and on Friday, I shared some adorable cat advent calendars with you.
Today’s video is a teaser for a new film featuring Samantha Martin and her Amazing Acro-Cats. Samantha Martin has been training animals since she was a kid. Spurred by a midlife crisis to quit her day job, she followed her dreams and created The Amazing Acrocats. But driving around in an undependable RV full of moody felines isn’t as glamorous – or lucrative – as it sounds. As debt mounts, and success seems elusive, how long can Samantha hold out? Shot over 5+ years, this film is an exploration of human-animal relationships, the American dream, cult status, and the cost of following one’s dreams. Have a great weekend!
